The Brigadier: Music/Videos/Lyrics
The Day before Christmas
(The Brigadier)
Words and Music by Matt Williams
I can remember the nights
The nights that I lay in bed awake and excited
I can remember the sights
The sight of the house as it was fairy-lighted
Everything was simpler then
I'd have my light out by ten
But the thrill of Christmas Day
Never really went away
Often i'll be on the train
Loaded with bags which have everyones presents
Usually the journeys a strain
Packed with commuters, it's very unpleasant
Finally I get into town, I'm tired but I never am down
'Cos I can hardly believe, that it is Christmas Eve...
I'm pleased to be at home
At this festive time of year
'Cos i've seen those alone
Crying Christmas tears, Crying Christmas tears
Every year we meet in the pub
We swap all our years gone by and tell funny stories
Afterward we go for some grub
Always a shish kebab or a Tandoori
Then we walk the long the road home
The alcohol makes us all slow
And when i'm in bed i'm relieved
Because it is Christmas Eve
